William Dalrymple
It8217;s no longer surprising that an Indian author has won the Booker prize. What is commendable about Adiga8217;s win is that this is an author who lives and works in India unlike Amitav Ghosh who is predominantly based in New York and their works tend to be very different in terms of their view point, but equally valid.
Dalrymple is the author of several books, including White Mughals.
Advaita Kala
I8217;m a huge fan of the book. It captures India8217;s underbelly with strong, dark humour. It8217;s a literary novel, yet, not pretentious.

It8217;s great news for Adiga and great news for all Indian writers. But I must admit; I wished Amitav Ghosh had won, he is one of my formative influences.
