He had just flown in from St. Andrews after a great performance in the Alfred Dunhill Cup and the same night was flying to Bangkok for the Lexus golf tournament. Despite being happy he made no secret of the slight8217; that had begun to creep in: he was doing well alright, but not WINNING the title.

It was been three years since he had last won. When he arrived for the Press Meeting for the announcement of the Hero Honda, the fact that Rohtas Singh who had gone through a similar title-less stretch of four years but just broken the drought, was also present at the meeting was not lost on him. He spent a few minutes with Rohtas, congratulating him and exchanging notes on current form among other things. Then before leaving the venue, said, quot;Pal, this time in Bangkok I am going to win. Just wait and watch.quot; In the past he has admitted, quot; You need four good rounds and not three to win, quot; he would say. Lo and behold it all came together in Bangkok. Not only did he shoot an ace on the first, but stayed up withthe leaders for the first three days.

And when it came to the play-off he had lost three play-off including one in the one million dollar Kirrin Open he was once again in fine fettle. Mental barriers about not winning titles and failing in play-offs had finally been broken. Now, can he do the same at the Hero Honda Masters the one tournament he wants to win badly. The reason: Hero Honda are also his sponsors.
