
Ahmed Patel not to contest by-election
Bharuch: Senior Congress leader from Bharuch Ahmed Patel announced that he was not a candidate for the Parliamentary by-election to be held in Bharuch because of the sudden death of Chandubhai Deshmukh.
Patel claimed that the failure of the BJP government at the State and the Centre had brightened the Congress8217;s chances of a victory in Bharuch. The success of the Adivasi Ekta Rally at Zankhvav indicated that the people appreciated the mala fide intentions of the communal forces and were prepared to align themselves with the Congress.
Cancer camp
A cancer diagnosis camp was held at Vagra in Bharuch district by the Bharuch Junior Chamber. While a total 210 patients registered their names for the camp, 100 were diagnosed and 9 were found to be suffering for cancer. Sponsored by Birla Copper, the camp was inaugurated jointly by Iqbal Patel, MLA, Vagra and Birla Copper joint executive president A K Sharma. The team members comprised 12 doctors and 7 para-medical staff. Dr Divyesh Gandhi, president of Bharuch Junior Chamber and project chairman Mukesh Baxi proposed the vote of thanks.
Jaycee Week
Jaycee week celebrations were held in Bharuch and Ankleshwar. Bharuch and Ankleshwar Junior Chamber organised many talent competitions and entertainment programmes. Cancer diagnostic camps were held in Vagra and Ankleshwar. Bharuch district open Antakshari contest was also organised.
Inaugurated
Nirman, an anganwadi for poor and needy children, was inaugurated by Darshna Desai, governor of Innerwheel Club on September 15 at Shri Gattu Vidyalaya in Ankleshwar. Speaking on the occasion, D A Anandpura, trustee of the Vidyalaya, praised the efforts of the club members and the UPL Ladies Club for initiating such a project. Around 40 children registered their names on the first day. Among others, N K Navadia, president of Ankleshwar Industries Association, Dr Panchal, director of Gattu Vidylaya, Nisha Bhargav, president of Innerwheel club, Anleshwar, and other dignitaries were present.
Industrial meet
A seminar on Industrial Safety8217; was organised jointly by the Safety, Health and Environment Association and the Factory Inspectorate Office on September 13 at the GNFC auditorium, Bharuch. Bipin Shah, MLA, delivered the inaugural address.
