Keshubhai to visit Mangrol on Sept 10
Surat: Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel will visit Mangrol on September 10 to hand over cheques to 4,000 beneficiaries of various government schemes. The amount will run into nearly Rs 2.25 crore. Disclosing this at a meeting, District Collector R M Shah said a sum of Rs 3.63 crore collected for the Chief Minister8217;s Relief Fund would be handed over to Patel. As many as 1281 girls would be given cycles worth Rs 16 lakh under the Vidya Sadhna scheme. The other schemes include: Manav Garima Scheme, Dikri Rudi Sachi Mudi8217;, Kunverbainu Mameru and pension scheme for women among other schemes.

CSS function
Dr C Krishnaswami from Delhi University will speak on Trade Unions, Workers Concerns and Labour Process8217; at a function organised by Centre for Social Studies at its premises at 1 pm on Friday. The Centre has organised another lecture by professor Howard Spodec from Temple University, USA, on Ahmedabad in the 20th Century: Visions, Conflicts and Compromises8217; at 3 pm on September 7.

One-day seminar
The Nuclear Power Corporation has organised a one-day seminar on Emergency Preparedness8217; at Kakrapar Atomic Power Station, Anumala, on September 9 from 9 am to 5 pm.

Insurance
The Surat branch No 4 of the Life Insurance Corporation of India paid the insurance amount to the wife of an insured person, on the very next day of his death. A cheque of Rs 25,825 was handed over to Manjulaben, wife of Manharbhai Kikabhai Rana Policy No 86110707, by branch manager Himatbhai Kantharia.

Congratulated
Congress councillor Bhupendra Solanki has congratulated C D Patel, Kadir Pirzada and Rizwan Usmani on being appointed state Congress president, state vice-president and state secretary respectively. Surat city Congress president Thakorebhai Naik has been co-opted in the state Congress committee.

Onam greetings
Vadodara: Members of the Baroda Nair Welfare Association have extended Onam greetings to all Keralites. The Association has organised a day-long celebration on the occasion, on Thursday, including a traditional dance programme followed by a feast. The Baroda Kerala Samajam has also conveyed Onam greetings to its members, well-wishers and the Malayalee community residing in the city.
