A 21-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death and two others were injured in a late-night clash in South East Delhi’s Jaitpur on Thursday, said police. Eight persons — including three adults and five juveniles — were apprehended in connection with the attack on Friday, according to officers.
According to the police, a PCR call was received around 11:18 pm to report the incident on Dharamshala Road in Southeast Delhi’s Mithapur area. When officers reached the spot, they found three young men with stab injuries. All three were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where Krishna Sahu (21) was declared dead. The other two, Sunny (21) and Prince (19), are undergoing treatment.
“On-spot inquiry revealed that the conflict stemmed from a dispute between two groups. The main suspect, identified as Deepak, had allegedly been harassing the complainant, Prince, on social media prior to the incident. Under the pretext of a reconciliation meeting, the two groups met around 11 pm, when a verbal argument escalated into a knife attack,” said DCP (South-East) Hemant Tiwari.
During the ensuing scuffle, Krishna Sahu suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest, shoulder and back, while Sunny sustained injuries to the abdomen and thigh, said officers, adding that Prince suffered minor injuries.
Teams from Jaitpur police station, along with the district crime team, inspected the scene, lifted forensic evidence and analysed CCTV footage from the area.
Based on technical surveillance and local intelligence, three adults — Deepak Kumar, Ashish (24) and Neeraj Kumar – were arrested. Police said Deepak allegedly initiated the confrontation, Ashish was armed with a sharp-edged weapon, and Neeraj helped coordinate the gathering.
Police said five minors allegedly involved in the assault have also been apprehended and are being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Officers have recovered knives believed to have been used in the attack, clothes worn by the accused at the time of the incident, and a two-wheeler used during the crime.
An FIR was registered on Friday at Jaitpur police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said multiple teams are continuing raids to trace other associates suspected to be involved in the assault.
