
Councillor raps BJP over murder
Gujarat State Congress delegate and SMC councillor Bhupendra Solanki has criticised the BJP leaders for their 8220;criminal silence8221; and inability of the police to nab the killers of BJP councillor Nita Satbhaya even after 11 days. He has alleged that while the police was groping in the dark, Mayor Savita Sharda and Union Textile Minister Kashiram Rana were busy inaugurating functions. 8220;It is shameful for the BJP to maintain studied silence on the tardy investigation,8221; he said, alleging that the BJP was not agitating because 8220;it was a political murder and they feared being exposed.8221; He threatened that the Congress would launch an agitation if the police failed to arrest the killers within a week.

Khushroo Minoo Dumasia, a student of St Xaviers8217; High School, Surat, secured the third position in figure skating at the 36th National Skating Championship, held at the Rajeev Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Visakhapatnam. Organised jointly by the Roller Skating Association of Andhra Pradesh and the Visakhapatnam District Roller Skating Association, the five-day competition concluded on December 18.
Convention
The All-India Democratic Students8217; Organisation AIDSO has organised a day-long convention on education on January 2. The convention, to be held at the Kanjibhai Desai Samaj Shiksan Bhavan, Chowk Bazaar, will be inaugurated by noted literary figure Jayant Pathak.

RTO K M Patel has asked autorickshaws carrying school children to abide by safety rules. Accordingly, rickshaws with hooks on its rear to carry school bags can carry 10 children, while autorickshaws which carry school bags inside can carry only nine children. Licences of those violating the rules will be cancelled.
