From art to jewellery, and from couture to handicrafts, Stylefile, had been Kolkata8217;s answer to the fashion snub that it had forever endured. This year round, the city8217;s only homebred fashion event, has expanded to include more designers and promising newcomers from fashion and art. Apart from sought after names like Sabyasachi, Anamika Khanna, and Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Stylefile this year features new names like Vivek Karunakaran, Udit Dhanuka and Prashant Verma.
8220;It8217;s been a great journey so far, and we have tried to give equal importance to young talent and their renowned counterparts,8221; says Preeti Goenka, one of the organizers.
In the crowd of names like Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, names like Raymond Manekshaw and Udit Dhanuka shine through. Manekshaw will be showcasing a collection of sarees with exquisite Parsee embroidery and gara borders. Dhanuka, for a long time, had been the in-house designer for international brands like Boss, Replay and Esprit. He would debut with his menswear label in Stylefile this year.
Among the usual art glitterati, Avarna Goenka8217;s name stands out for her association with handmade greeting cards.
The Stylefile event will be organised at the Old Bungalow in Alipore like every year.
