JALANDHAR, Aug 18: Girl students of the DAV Institute of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre here today held a protest dharna in front of the office of the deputy commissioner and demanded action against a teacher of their institute who they allege, had been misbehaving with the girl students.

The students under the banner of the Students Welfare Union have been on strike since August 12 tp protest the objectionable behaviour of a teacher of their institute towards the girl students.

A spokes person of the Union alleged that the teacher had been indulging harassment of the girl students. She alleged that despite representing to the principal many times against the teacher, the institute had taken no action. The students today submitted a memorandum to the DC demanding termination of the teacher’s services.

Breast feeding Week: The Department of Home Science Extension Education, Punjab Agriculture University observed the World Breast Feeding week at Dosanj Khurd village in district Jalandhar. About 60 farm women were made aware of the importance of breast milk. The functions of colostrum, diet for mothers during the pregnancy and lactation were also discussed during the programme. Demonstrations were given on supplementary diet preparation from locally available food material.
