Statue No. 6 for Maya

The new 13-feet bronzenbsp;statuenbsp;has already been brought to the Ambedkar Memorial, where it will be installed on a 2.40 metre high pedestal in a gallery.

8220;The statue was brought on Monday night. It was earlier uncovered but now it has been covered with thick sheets of plastic,8221; said a contractor working at the site.

According to a source in Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam UPRNN 8212; the government agency executing the project 8212; said along with the statue ofnbsp;Mayawati,nbsp;the statues of fivenbsp;Dalit icons will also be installed in the gallery. But other statues are yet to be brought to the site.

8220;The cost of each statue has been estimated at Rs 50 lakh. The pedestals along with a 50 square metre base of granite will be constructed for each of the six statues,8221; source said.

Four pillars are being erected around all the six pedestals to support the domes that will be built to cover the statues. Directions have been issued to complete the construction of the pedestals by December 6 8212; the death anniversary of Bhimrao Ambedkar, said a labourer at the site.

Mayawati had unveiled her last statue on October 9 in Kanshiram Bahujan Nayak Park at 4, South Avenue.

The other statues of Mayawati arenbsp;located atnbsp;Kanshiram Memorial at Jail Road, Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal at Gandhi Setu,nbsp;Kanshiram Sanskritik Sthal at Bangla Bazaar, and Prerna Kendra at South Avenue.
