
BSF foils intrusion bid
NEW DELHI: Border Security Force BSF personnel have foiled an intrusion attempt by Bangladeshi soldiers in the Rajshahi sector and shot dead two intruders, sources said here on Thursday. Several other intruders were injured when BSF personnel opened fire after repeated warnings failed to deter them. A senior BSF officer said the matter had however been sorted out after a border meeting between the officials of the two countries.

Freedom fighter Viswanadha dead
RAJAHMUNDRY: Veteran freedom fighter Nadimpalli Viswanadha Raju died at his native Vannichintala village in East Godavary district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday after a brief illness. He was 89. Raju, a recipient of the Tamrapatra, was imprisoned several times during the freedom movement.
Two FCI officials suspended
MOGA: Two quality inspectors of the Food Corporation of India have been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty, Senior Regional Manager North D P Reddy said. The two inspectors P K Sehgal and Joginder Singh who were posted at Nihal Singh Wala, were suspended with immediate effect, Reddy said.
Cheating charges against exporters
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Thursday framed chargesagainst two exporters for allegedly cheating the Foreign Trade Directorate by procuring advance licences worth Rs 46 lakh on forged documents. Syed Ahmed Khan and Gulam Rasool were charged under Section 420 of IPC for cheating the government.
