MUMBAI, Aug 13: A Goal each by Hilal Khan and Amit Sharma helped St Michael8217;s Mahim beat Holy Family 2-1 in the first semifinal of the under-16 Division II Inter-Schools football tournament, sponsored by Colgate Palmolive at the MSSA-Castrol Azad Maidan ground, today.

After surviving some tense moments, the Mahim team began to play to a plan. They scored against the run of play when Amit bulged the net off a Hilal free-kick.

The duo combined again after seven minutes to add a second when Hilal tapped the ball into an open net from a free-kick taken by Amit. Shishir Ahuja reduced the margin for Holy Family in the dying minutes.

At Dominic Savio Ground, St Xavier8217;s Andheri experienced mixed luck as their under-16 side won while their u-14 string lost. The u-16 team defeated Children8217;s Welfare Versova 4-0 where Dilpreet Brar, Imran Sargourh, Shivanand Pujari and Faisal Rasheed scored a goal each. Their younger counterparts lost to their namesakes from Vile Parle 0-5 in DivisionIII.
