A Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Barcelona on Thursday after a passenger triggered a “bomb alert” by creating a Wi-Fi network name containing a bomb threat, an airline official stated.

The incident occurred on Turkish Airlines flight TK1853 which was scheduled to fly from Istanbul to Barcelona.

As the flight was approaching its destination at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, it was detected that a passenger established an in-flight internet access point and set the network name to include a bomb threat,” the Turkish airlines spokesperson, Yahya Üstün, said, AP reported.
