
MUMBAI, Nov 1: Srinivas Ramkumar of Guru Nanak, Bhandup and Akash Khalwadekar of St. Stanislaus won the titles in the open and under-10 categories respectively in the Bournvita Inter-Schools Chess Tournament conducted by the Kalina Recreation Centre and Sports Club and Mumbai Chess Association at the Don Bosco school, Matunga here today.
Priyanka Vora of JB Vachha and Niharika Thakkar of Vissanji Academy won the girls title in the open and under-10 categories.
Srinivas, finished half a point ahead of the field to win the title. In the last round today he defeated Saurabh Barve. On the second board, Raj Parakh drew with Archis Awate while Kaustubh Nilegaonkar and Amar Kamath also ended their match in a draw in the third board.
In the under-10 section, Akash tied with Aditya Vora for the top spot but the latter lost out on the title on progressive scores. Niharika, who finished third overall, won the girls title.
Akash beat Vishal Shah and Aditya defeated Akash8217;s twin brother Ambar in the top twoboards. Niharika also won against Rohil Bhat in the third board.
