Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh could never split the unity of the pro-Sardar Sarovar Project SSP organisations, the State Government and Opposition parties on the project, though he has on occasion put a spanner into Gujarat8217;s lifeline8217;. But now, Singh has broken that barricade too. Till recently, the proposed kar sewa at the dam site by pro-SSP groups led by Sharad Joshi had the tacit support of Gujarat8217;s Narmada Development Minister Jay Narayan Vyas. Now, after Singh8217;s threat that he would prepare an adverse report on the sewa, Vyas is going all out to prevent Sharad Joshi from executing it early next week. And Vyas, always quick on the uptake, says the sewa would mean jumping straight into Digvijay Singh8217;s trap. Since Joshi has the support of Congress leader Sanat Mehta, Singh, without stirring out of Bhopal, has also made possible a political tussle between the BJP and the Congress.
