Ahead of from the complaint against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for improper handling of the investigations into the killing of Professor HS Sabharwal, his son Himanshu Sabharwal is now planning to file a writ petition in Supreme Court, seeking transfer of the case from the CID to CBI.
Two weeks after the incident on August 26 when a group of protesting students in Ujjain8217;s Madhav College allegedly killed Sabharwal, police has arrested only two people. Himanshu claimed the police did not arrest more protesters though witnesses had pointed to their involvement. He also alleged that the full set of post-mortem and other reports relating to the case were not made available to him. His father died of substantial damage to one of his lungs during the incident, Himanshu said, and this could not be brushed off as a case of accident as was being made out by some quarters.
Himanshu has been in Delhi over the weekend and has consulted Senior Counsel Vivek Tankha and Prashant Kumar on his next move. The lawyers, he said, were supportive of his plan to move the apex court to get the investigation transferred. Tankha, who was advocate-general of Madhya Pradesh during Digvijay Singh8217;s tenure, said he had spoken to Himanshu on the case but refused to divulge details.
