In high spirits
All of us praise the spirit of reaching out to the needy which is symbolic of Christmas, but those who actually live by its true spirit can be counted on one8217;s fingers. One of them is the Rotary Club of Pune Riverside, who in association with their Inner Wheels, Rotract and International Clubs, organized a Christmas party and a fun fair, for the inmates of Maher, an NGO. Held at the sprawling campus of Vatsalyadham, one of the centres of Maher, the funfair attracted a lot of crowd owing to the interesting game and food stalls. People were seen enjoying camel rides while devouring candy sticks and popcorn. The tattoo stall and stilt walkers were added attractions. As the afternoon sun gave way to dusky hues, it was time for some exclusive stage performances. While a group of blind children performed some great live orchestra and dance pieces, the fire show and stand up comedy drew immense applause. Later on, the invitees also enjoyed a sumptuous dinner. Bringing a smile on the faces of one and all, the programme proved to be a reflection of the fact that a little bit of love and care from society can actually cheer up the less fortunate ones.

Magical Moves
An evening of classical grandeur is in the offing for dance lovers of the city. Ahmadnagar-based Ruheen Sheoran, a professional katahk dancer will be performing a recital at the Nehru memorial Hall on Ambedkar Road on Saturday, December 27 at 6.30 pm. An accopmplished artiste with many performances to her credit Sheoran is now set to weave the magic of her steps in Pune too. Be there.

Health Wise
Nowdays, several people are taking up Home Science as a subject because it is useful in developing a healthy family. A healthy family is required for developing healthy societies, which in turn are required for building a healthy nation. To spread this message, the students of SNDT College of Home Science organized an exhibition on December 26, mainly for women and children. The exhibition had a creative display on several topics such as science, textiles, interiors, diet, nutrition and child development. The departments of textiles, composite science, food science and nutrition, family resource management, hotel and hospitality also took part in this exhibition. Principal Anita Kumar was present at the venue.

Double whammy
Gourmet restaurant 8216;Post 918217; will be arranging a club party today at 7 pm and on December 28 at 1.30 am at its Takk Dome. And if that8217;s not enough, movie buffs can enjoy the fun at 8216;Bollywood Hangama8217; with DJ Abhishek Mantri, DJ Regge, DJ Nirmal, and DJ Sants.

Groove on
It8217;s time for the party animals to rock and match steps as they put their best dance foot forward. And invigorating party animals this festive season are live bands, which promise entertainment unlimited. Getting the revelers to groove to western rock and pop numbers, Retro Legendary Act 8212; the Pune based band, is all set to perform at Not Just Jazz By The Bay at E-Square. The evening will see the band playing popular numbers by Pink Floyd, Santana, Glen Fray, apart from party favourites like Coco Jumbo, Mambo No. 5 and One Love. Interestingly, while bands are synonymous with the youth, Retro Legendary Act has members who are in the middle age bracket. Formed in 2006, the five-member band plays western numbers and Indipop numbers occasionally. Having given performances in various cities across the country, this retro band also got an opportunity to set the entertainment mood grooving during the CYG events recently. The band will perform today, 9 pm onwards.
