INDORE, NOV 13: A brilliant 117 by Ankit Shrivastava and 83 by Devendra Bundela helped Madhya Pradesh pile up 317 for eight against Vidarbha on the first day of their four-day Central Zone Ranji Trophy cricket match here on Monday.

Put in to bat, MP lost openers Harvinder Singh Sodhi and local hero Amay Khurasia cheaply. JP Yadav, who walked on to the field when hosts had lost four early wickets, scored 36 runs which included six boundaries and looked settled for a big score. However, he could not face the onslaught of Vidarbha bowlers for long.

Nikhil Patwardhan and Maninder Singh were sent back without scoring a run. At this stage, a 109 run partnership for seventh-wicket between Ankit Shrivastava and Devendra Bundela put MP in a comfortable position.

Himachal in trouble
NEW DELHI:
Himachal Pradesh need to score a further 109 runs to avoid innings defeat with only five wickets in hand after they were forced to follow on by Delhi at the end of the third day of the North Zone Ranji Trophy match on Monday.

Haryana on backfoot
AMRITSAR:
Former Test player Harbhajan Singh 4-70 wrecked the Haryana batting line-up taking four wickets as Punjab forced the visitors on the backfoot leaving them on the verge of a follow-on in their North Zone Ranji tie here on Monday.

Jamp;K win
JAMMU:
Jammu and Kashmir collected full points with an emphatic seven wicket win over the Services with a day to spare in their North Zone Ranji Trophy cricket match on the third day here on Monday.

Needing 64 to win with nine wickets in hand after bowling out Services twice in the two days, Jammu and Kashmir completed the formalities losing two more wickets.

Jammu and Kashmir, who lost to Punjab in their second match after an upset win against Haryana in the season opener, now have 16 points from three matches with two more first round ties against Delhi and Himachal still to be played. Services, after losing to Delhi and drawing against Himachal, have just three points and are virtually out of contention.
