Getting tough

Look who’s getting pricey. None other than Sanjay Dutt. Insiders from tinsel town say that his producers have become pretty paranoid ever since the deadly Dutt became fussy about his films. Apparently the star refuses to dub for any film until he sees the rushes and approves of what he sees. Perhaps the failure of Daud has shaken him. And now that he doesn’t really have films that will help him sail through rough weather, Sanju baba is trying to make the best of what he has. According to rumours, he refused to dub for the much-delayed Safari till he saw the rushes and was fully satisfied. Of course, he can choose to deny this. For which producer with an incomplete film will want to rub his hero the wrong way? So for his poor producers, mum’s the word. Or else, Dutt may just stay mum in the dubbing theatre.

On and off

This Rahul Roy-Suman Ranganathan relationship has baffled everyone. Is it on or off? For months, everyone who knows this couple has been speculating. But now it seems more and more like things aren’t exactly hunky dory. For Suman is always with another guy while Rahul has been seen wooing other women.

This model he was getting naughty with in Pune, gave in after playing hard to get. I saw him at Three Flights Up on Friday night and Suman wasn’t with him. But there was someone else.

And ever since Rahul has turned director with Sudhakar Bokade’s Mera Joota Hai Japani

, they have become the best of friends. You can spot them together everywhere, all the time. Meanwhile, it also seems that confession time, for Rahul, is fast approaching. Once the film rolls he may just feel like telling the press about what happened between him and Suman.

There is something called timing, you know. But the funniest one you could hear is this one. They say Rahul got raided by the Income Tax guys after he signed MJHJ. Now what could they have possibly hoped to find in his house? A few years back it might have been a different story. But now, Roy boy hasn’t even seen the arch lights for a long long time.

Dis-location

Talk of grand plans going phut. The Khan brothers, that’s Salman and Sohail, went around telling the world that were headed for Switzerland for the next schedule of Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. Then they announced that they were going through a financial crunch and changed locations. You can’t even guess where they are shooting now. Well, it seems the Khans think Nashik and Igatpuri are alternatives to the lush locales of Switzerland. Well, their stars can’t go crazy shopping there. Plus they don’t need to spend on expensive five star hotels and yes they don’t even have to fly there.

Highs and lows

Sometimes they are just down but sometimes they are actually out. Let’s check out the current star status in the industry and of course at the box-office.

* Akshay Kumar may be down but he is certainly not out. Let them say he has a string of flops behind him and no good films to look forward to. But with his good looks he will end in the top bracket even if this means being in limbo for months.

* What about Madhuri Dixit? It must be difficult for people who wrote her off to eat their words after seeing Dil To Pagal Hai. Wait a minute, we aren’t saying this, she is the one who said this in a recent interview.

Didn’t anyone tell Dixit that Karisma was the best part of this film?* Ayesha Julkha almost made a comeback but things have cooled down for her once again. She should have never let her ex-boyfriend, Armaan Kohli out of her hands. After all, in her entire career, he seems like the best thing that happened to her.

* Sridevi is down, yes, she was like that for quite some time. And now she is also out (of the industry). Thank God the actress is seeking voluntary retirement within three months from now, or else she would be forced to quit.* Nadeem-Shravan may be down for obvious reasons. Now they are also out of Smita Thackeray’s Haseena Maan Jayegi. Arch rival Anu Malik has been asked to score the music instead.
