Shiv scalps four in Canara win
Left-arm spinner Shiv Kumar (4 for 26) helped Canara Bank beat Airport Authority of India by 56 runs in the pool E match of the first Hari Singh Tyagi TYCA League at the Yamuna sports complex.
Canara Bank: 170 in 30.4 overs (Harminder Singh 42, Roopkishore 30, Raj Kumar 2 for 25, Arun Singh 2 for 28).
Airports Authority of India: 114 in 18.3 overs (Sanjay Gupta 40, Shiv Kumar 4 for 26, Somesh Ghambhir 2 for 33).
All round show by N. P Singh An all-round display by N.P.Singh (54 n.o and 3 for 20) helped Tilak Nagar Colts beat DSTA by seven wickets and enter the second round of the Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Roshanara ground.
Put into bat first DSTA, who were at one stage 104 for 3 in 15 overs, could only score 175 in 31 overs. Young Vaibhav Parashar scored 55 runs which included 6 fours and came of 75 balls. Off-spinner Vinod Sehgal (4 for 24) and N.P.Singh (3 for 20) of TN Colts were mainly responsible in restricting the DSTA score.
In reply T.N.Colts, who were at one stage 66 for 3, achieved the winning target in 29 overs. This was possible mainly due to the unbeaten 112 runs stand for the fourth wicket between Vikas (73 n.o) and N.P.Singh (54 n.o). Vikas’ knock came of 82 balls and contained 8 fours while N.P.Singh struck 5 fours.
N.P.Singh won the PMC man of the match award.

Women’s hockey
Chennai will host the 49th senior National Women’s Hockey Championship in August. Indian Women Hockey Federation (IWHF) President Vidya Stokes said here on Monday that the championship will be played from August 1 to 10. She said all the affiliated units of the IWHF are likely to take part in the Nationals. Railways are the defending champions.
Salwan tennis
Arjun defeated Devashish 7-3 in the boys second round of the first Salwan Inter-School Tennis Tournament which began on Monday. In the other matches, Mayank Jain beat Dhruv Chadha 7-2, Sameer Jain beat N.H.Krishnan 7-2, Akash Mayur beat Anirudh Vijay 7-0, Himanshu beat Praveen 7-2.
In the first round matches, Paul Novotny beat Akash 7-0, Vipin Gupta beat Rishi Handa 7-2, Hemant beat Abishek Sethi 7-1, N.H. Krishnan beat Hitesh 7-1, Praveen beat Ishpreet Gandhi 7-1.
