Shift diesel hike burden

PUNE, Oct 30: Nationalist Congress Party NCP district unit chief Jagannath Shewale today called for steps to shift the post-diesel price hike inflation on to non-agriculturist 8220;affluent8221; class.

Speaking to reporters Shewale today maintained that the recent hike in diesel prices was bound to hike the pre-tilling operations and transport costs for the farming community. 8220;The farmers in India are not in position to absorb any further economic burdens,8221; Shewalee said making a point that the Centre should resort to shift the burden on to the 8220;affluent classes,8221; which according to Shewale is confined to 30 per cent of the country8217;s total population.
