MUMBAI, June 22: A major shakeup in the top echelons of the police today saw 24 IPS officers being shifted throughout the state, including Mumbai8217;s joint commissioner, crime, R S Sharma. Under fire for quite some time over the fast deteriorating crime scene in the city, Sharma, was shifted as IG, Thane Range, giving way to S Sivanandan.

Along with Sharma, three additional commissioners were also transferred out of Mumbai. Theye are S S Wagal, Ramrao Ghatge and Satyapal Singh who have gone out as additional commissioner of Thane, CP of Amravati and ACP Nagpur, respectively. S B Pardhi has been transferred to Mumbai.

Commissioner of Aurangabad, Ulhas Joshi, was shifted to Nagpur and replaced by S B Kulkarni. O P Bali, commissioner Thane, will now be the new IG for Kolhapur while Bhujang Mohite fills his boots in Thane. Nashik will also have a new commissioner in Ambalal Verma. Rahul Gopal has been posted as IG, State Reserve Police while PKB Chakravorty will be the new director of Nashikacademy . The AntiCorruption Bureau will be headed by Hasan Gafoor while S M Shanghari will be IG training. D Chaudhury has been made IG, Amravati range and Vijay Kamble DIG, Special Training. U D Rajwade will take charge as IG, anti-naxallite operations.
