The Special Investigation Team probing the stamp scam might insist that arrested former Mumbai police commissioner R.S. Sharma undergoes a lie detector test. ‘‘Sharma has denied that he knew about any political figure who had links with Telgi but the audio telephonic conversation does not corroborate with his views,’’ a SIT official claimed.
Warring allies speak in one voice
NEW DELHI: Ahead of the Assembly session, Maharashtra’s warring allies, the Congress and the NCP, joined hands over the Telgi stamp scam on Wednesday. While Sushilkumar Shinde said his govt ‘‘will table all the facts’’ in the Assembly, Deputy CM Chhagan Bhujbal said the govt has ‘‘all documents’’ on how the then government in the state ‘‘allowed the scam to flourish’’.
We’re clean, insists Krishna
BANGALORE: Declaring that the Karnataka govt is ‘‘clean’’ in handling the investigation into the fake stamp paper racket, CM S.M. Krishna said he would hand over the probe to the CBI only if the SC desires so. ‘‘Shouldn’t credit be given to the state which exposed and arrested the main culprit, Telgi?’’ he asked.
