Security beefed up in Ayodhya

LUCKNOW, DEC 5: Security was tightened on Sunday at all sensitive places including three religious shrines at Ram Janambhumi complex Ayodhya, Krishna Janamshtali Mathura and Gyanvapi mosque Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to maintain law and order on the seventh anniversary of Babri mosque demolition on Monday.

Additional forces have been deployed in the cities where the shrines are located, an official spokesman said here adding that security has also been tightened in the communally sensitive districts.

quot;No new traditions will be allowed to be performed anywhere,quot; he said. The spokesman described the law and order situation in the State as quot;absolutely normalquot; and said strict vigil would be maintained and action would be taken against anyone trying to disturb peace and harmony.
