Sanjay Dutt gets his passport back

The special TADA court released the passport of Sanjay Dutt so that he can travel abroad to shoot for his films.

The special TADA court passed an order for releasing the passport of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in compliance with the Supreme Court directive so that he can travel abroad to shoot for his films.

Special judge P D Kode passed the order in compliance with the Supreme Court directive dated April 10, which asked the actor to return to India by September 30.

Dutt, after collecting his passport personally from the TADA court, will have to file an undertaking before the Supreme Court that he will submit the same to the court on or before October 5 after his return.

Dutt, who is out on bail in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, had approached the apex court on March 13, seeking permission to visit Malaysia, Thailand and the United States.

While granting regular bail to the actor on November 27 last year, the court had directed him to surrender his passport and asked him not to leave the country without its

permission.

Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act for possessing illegal weapons in connection with 1993 Mumbai blasts case. He was, however, absolved of the serious offence under TADA. The CBI had not opposed his bail maintaining that he was entitled for the relief since he was guilty of a less serious offence.

The Bollywood star, who was sentenced in July last year, had already spent 18 months in jail.
