Same module behind Ahmedabad blasts, Surat bombs: cops

The Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch DCB has reiterated the claim that the 10 persons who have been arrested in connection with the July 26 serial blasts in the city are also responsible for planting 25 live bombs in Surat. The bombs were recovered between July 27 and August 3 before being successfully defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad.

Joint Commissioner of Police Ashish Bhatia who is heading the investigation said, 8220;We are pretty sure that the module which triggered the blasts in Ahmedabad is involved in planting bombs in Surat.8221; However, Bhatia did not divulge any further details about the information gathered from the accused during police remand.

Nine of the ten suspects are from Gujarat, including Sajid Mansuri, Yunus Mansuri, Samsuddin Shaikh, Arif Kagzi, Gyasuddin Shaikh, Imran Shaikh, Usman Agarbattiwala, Iqbal Shaikh and Zahid Shaikh. However, Mufti Abu Bashir, who is considered to be the mastermind behind the Ahmedabad blasts by the DCB is from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. 8220;All accused are on police remand and are still being interrogated. The information given by them is being collated,8221; Bhatia added.
