
CHANDIGARH, Jan 18: Nine singers presented a programme of songs to commemorate the 52nd death anniversary of pioneer playback singer K.L. Saigal. The programme, held at the Government Museum auditorium in Sector 10, was organised by the Environment Society of India.
Those who sang were: J.S. Grewal and K.S. Chawla from Chandigarh, Bhupinder Singh and Rajinder Singh from S.A.S. Nagar, R.S. Chopra and Radhika Chopra from Panchkula, K.S. Suri from Jalandhar, V.P. Sharma from Sangrur and Gurcharan Singh Gill from Vancouver. In the devotional songs competition for school children, the young singers of Gem Public School, S.A.S. Nagar won the first prize; second prize went to the Sector 10 Government Senior Model School and two schools Sector 23 Government Girls School, Sector 33 Government Model Senior Secondary School shared the third prize.
Individual prizes went to Damneet Kaur, Isha, C. Meenakshi with consolation prizes to Ashitosh and Jasleen Singh.
