MUMBAI, OCT 14: The opening day of the under-16 Travel Network Shatkar Trophy cricket tournament opened to a run riot at the Hindu Gymkhana this afternoon. Sagar Dumbre and Arif Sansara cracked whirlwind centuries to power Gundappa Viswanath XI to a mammoth total of 324 against Chandu Borde XI.Viswanath XI, who were struggling at 143-7 were revived by the 142-run association between Sagar and Arif, who came in at number 8. While Dumbre posted 130 (132b, 205m, 17x4), Sansara whipped 101 not out off 90 balls cracking 11 boundaries and five sixes.In reply, Borde XI were 29-2 when stumps were drawn for the day.In the other match at Islam Gymkhana, bowlers dominated the proceedings with Sunil Gavaskar XI dismissing Prof DB Deodhar XI for 172. Medium-pacer Naynesh Pawar (4-38) and off-spinner Nikhil Wankhede (3-9) were the wreckers-in-chief.
