SAD flays Chhibber8217;s interference

CHANDIGARH, Oct 7: The local unit of Shiromani Akali Dal has criticised the alleged increased interference of UT Administrator Lt Gen B. K. N. Chhibber retd in the affairs of the Chandigarh Administration.

In a meeting held here yesterday, under the charge of party president Gurpratap Singh Riar, SAD members also lamented the Administrator8217;s 8220;indifference8221; towards their demands. The party has said that even though Haryana had accorded a second language status to Punjabi, UT had done nothing in this regard.

The Administrator and the Home Secretary were blamed for creating an 8220;uncongenial8221; working environment in UT. The party has, thus, called for a recall of the Administrator and the Home Secretary, along with other officers who have completed their tenure in UT.
