Melodious, dil se

For eleven consecutive years Sushila Gugle8217;s Elegancia has been having a fashion show at the Poona Club. Says this unassuming lady, 8220;I do this show every year, so that Puneites come to know what8217;s in and what8217;s out.8221; On Saturday, from the 75 designs that she created, it was evident that getting decked in heavy stuff was a no-no. What was in was elegance, like the net sari blouses, Chinese embroidered garas, Capri pants, and the elan of Pakistani mokaish and badlas. The show was in the memory of the Kargil heroes and began with a desert sequence. The stage was flush with desert colours beige, creme and brown salwar kameezes . The second sequence had western casuals with pedal-pushers, Capri pants and strappy tops.
Sushila showed her talent was the gara and the Western formals.
Says Sushila 8220; Young girls don8217;t like the heavy sari. So, I fused the West and the East. I used half-net and half-satin, embroidered some to give it that light, casual feel.8221; The look was classy. In silver and light pinks, in light greens and blues, the pastel shades and designs were truly a feast for the eyes.
