NEW DELHI, JULY 8: All-rounder Robin Singh today clarified his remarks on the Indian team’s performance in the recent cricket World Cup and denied that he had criticised the team management.
Robin Singh, who spoke to reporters in Mumbai on Tuesday on various aspects of World Cup, said his comments on the World Cup rules was only meant to highlight the fact that he (Robin) realised the importance of the format only after losing to South Africa in the opening tie.
In his clarification faxed from Chennai, Robin Singh said it was not his intention to give the feeling he was denied a copy of the rules by the team management when sought for.
He said during his reference to the rules, that there was initial confusion over the fact that only points scored against fellow Super Six qualifiers were carried over, he had not criticised any team management member.
Robin Singh said report of his chat with the media at Mumbai had come out in such a way that it hurt the sentiments of those in the team management.
Hesaid it was not his intention to hurt anyone. “I would like to express my deepest apologies to them,” he added.
