Robbery foiled at Zaveri Bazar; six held

The Pydhonie Police on Thursday prevented an attempted robbery in the Zaveri Bazaar locality and has arrested six people in connection with the crime.

The Pydhonie Police on Thursday prevented an attempted robbery in the Zaveri Bazaar locality and has arrested six people in connection with the crime.

The six accused Paritosh Khada 19, Rahul Roy 30, Tapos Chanderpal 29, Sourav Satra 21, ALam Abdul Wahab Sheikh 24 and Yasub Sheikh 23 were arrested from Pujari Katha next to a petrol pump behind Loha Bhavan at Pydhonie. Satra, Alam and Yasub have cases of robbery registered against them at the JJ marg and LT marg police stations,

The Pydonie police had prior information regarding the robbery. Two constables who were on duty in that area noticed Yasub, Abdul and Satra at the location where they met up with the other three. The constables then called for back up and arrested them at around 6:30 pm. Many objects such as choppers, lock picking instruments, wires and a knife were recovered from the arrested. Roy, Khada, Chanderpal and Satra are street sweepers who live on the street at Duncan road while the other two are artisans staying at a slum at Bhendi Bazaar. All of them are residents of West Bengal.

They have been remanded to police custody till December19.
