Robbers escape with booty

CHENNAI, May 31: Four persons of a robber gang, who were trapped inside a jewellery shop, broke open the door and escaped with 25 sovereigns here after terrorising traders and passers-by with knives. The gang, came to the shop on a motorcycle and autorickshaw. Posing as customers, they went inside and one of them whipped out a knife and pulled down the shutter. Three members managed to run out with the booty, while four others got trapped. The trapped gang members then broke open the door from inside and escaped before the police arrived.
