
MUMBAI, Oct 26: Rhino Sports Club brushed aside Centaur Hotel 1-0 in the MDFA-conducted Harwood football league at the St Xavier’s ground, Parel, today.
Rhino, who began the game with nine players, held the upperhand right through. Ashish Bhoir, who received two fine passes by Utpal Kadam, failed to get the better of Centaur goalkeeper Wenzil Moraes on both the occasions.
The match-winner came in the 62nd minute. A flag-kick by Sachin Garate to the far side of the goal saw Rakesh Devlekar beat goalkeeper Moraes with a tap from close.
In Division III-A, Worli Sports Club defeated Friends 2-0. Timothy Fernandes and Robert Rodrigues were the goal-getters.
Zindani, Saldanha to lead
Karim Zindani and Rohan Saldanha will lead the Mumbai A and B teams during the under-14 State-level Samna Trophy cricket tournament commencing from October 30 here.

Harris Shield from today
The Mumbai Schools Sports Association’s Inter-School Harris Shield Cricket Tournament gets under way simultaneously at the Azad Maidan and Cross Maidan respectively on Tuesday.
As many as108 schools would be competing in the the tourney which would be played on a knock-out format.
While the Harris Shield would feature players below 16 years of age, the Giles Shield which will is slated to commence from November 18, is eligible for players below 14 years.
Gymnastics camp
Eleven boys and nine girls have been selected by the Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association to undergo optional exercise to be held tomorrow at the Andheri Sports Complex.

Condolence meet
The Indian Cultural League (ICL) will be holding a condolence meeting in rememberance of footballerNinan Thomas, who passed away last month.
The meeting will be held at the PD Hall of the Wankhede Stadium on October 31 (Saturday), informs an ICL release.
Nathani on top
Recently crowned National champion Junaid Nathani, has taken a massive lead in the boys under-16 category of the Head Indian squash rankings. Nathani is the only player to have won all the three events since the inception of Head Indian rankings in August this year.
The three events taken into consideration were Dewan Housing Classic, Junior Nationals and the WMI Cranes Little Masters Indian junior Open.
