VADODARA, July 13: A city court on Tuesday remanded one of the accused in the alleged harassment case of city-based businessman Bharat Shah, to police custody for two days.

However, following an application by the accused, Ajay Patel alias Tuchko, saying that he was to participate in a shrimant ceremony, the court suspended the operation of the judgment till July 17 and directed the accused to present himself at the DCB police station on that day.

The judgment was delivered on a remand application moved by PI, DCB, R A Munshi on July 9 seeking a seven-day remand for the accused. Patel had earlier been granted anticipatory bail by the Gujarat High Court. In the application, Munshi stated that the remand was imperative because three others accused in the case, Ashok Patel, Bagho and Jadhai were still absconding.
