Refresher course in physics begins

PATIALA, MAY 20: Physics Department of the Punjabi University organised an inaugural function of the UGC-sponsored refresher course on quot;Laser Physics, Optical Technology and Radiation Physics.quot; Professor Ram Murti Goel, pro-Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Goel highlighted the importance of and need for refresher courses. He said apart from the fulfillment of requirements for promotion to senior/selection grades, the refresher course will benefit participants and add a new dimension to their knowledge.

Welcoming the participants, Prof V.P. Nayyar stressed the need to make city scientists aware of the quot;physics success stories.quot; These stories highlight the important link between research funding for basic and applied research and their economic benefits to the society.

Thirty-five participants from the state are attending the refresher course.
