Mumbai, Jan 30: Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers, led by Sulakshan Kulkarni, won the Times Shield B Division Title by seven wickets at Parsee Gymkhana today. RCF denied Union Bank the title for the second year in succession, and climbed back to the A Division, their domain for the last nine years.

Resuming at the overnight five for two, and needing another 81 runs, the third wicket pair of Suhas Mayekar and Rahul Thakur added 59 runs before Thakur holed out to cover after making 31 (1×6, 3×4). Mayekar (38 not out, 6×4) and the skipper then saw RCF through.

Brief scores: Union Bank 262 & 206 lost to RCF 383 & 88-3 (Mayekar 38 not out) by 7 wickets.

Hongkong Bank win

A century by Neil D’Souza and a hat-trick by Pravin Patil fetched Hongkong Bank a 28-run win and a passage into the second round of the XIIth Western Region Inter-bank Cricket Shield, conducted by Bombay Mercantile Co-op Bank, at Azad Maidan today.

In another match, A Swamy’s 156, the highest knock of the day, was instrumental inOriental Bank of Commerce’s 191-run win over Indian Institute of Bankers.
