Congress campaign posters for Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are pitching the party as an answer to caste and communal politics. Rahul Gandhi, alongside Sonia Gandhi, is the mascot of the party8217;s campaign against crime, violence and the effort 8220;to fulfil the dream of the youth8221;. Interestingly, P V Narasimha Rao is missing from the posters and the present prime minister, Manmohan Singh, features in only one of the dozen released on Wednesday. Rao does not evoke pleasant memories among UP Muslims since it was during his regime that the Babri Masjid fell. Rahul Gandhi had recently said that if a Gandhi had been active, the masjid would not have fallen. Former prime ministers8212; Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Rajiv Gandhi feature on the posters. 8220;It is not being done with any specific intention. Rao is among our leaders,8221; party spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan said.
