MUMBAI, December 28: Rani Goenka, playing to a handicap of 17, brought distinction to the scene at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club par-70 course here today. She aggregated plus 8, three on the way out, in the 79th competition of the Addicts Golfing Society of Western India. In this against bogey event, sponsored by Classic Stripes, Rani Goenka played the best round of her career with a gross 78 which was brought about with the help of two birdies and seven pars, to claim the top honours.

On the first day when 70 of the 220 participants teed off yesterday the best aggregate was plus one which was turned in by six players including Kishore Musale, the MD of Classic Stripes who faltered after doing the first nine with three plus. It was much the same story today until Rani Goenka brought in her card.

Later B Dasgupta, came home with a gross 86, which was seven under his handicap of 23, shooting one birdie and three pars to aggregate plus 6, three on the first nine.

This gave him the runners-up position. The next best aggregate was plus 3 by Prakash Mankar 17.

The longest drive was achieved by HS Thackersey 8212; 275 yards, while Ajit Parmar came closest to the 10th pin 8212; seven feet.
