Jaipur, Sept 27: The Rajasthan Government will soon launch an ambitious project in collaboration with the Centre and the Asian Development Bank ADB to develop and beautify six cities, and restore and conserve historical monuments in the state.
quot; The Rs 1,529-crore project will develop infrastructure 8212; including sewage and roads 8212; and will also involve heritage conservation in six district headquartersquot;, Shanti Dhariwal, state minister for self-governance, told PTI here on the sidelines of the recently-concluded International Rajasthani Conclave IRC 2000.
Of that amount, the ADB would pool in Rs 700 crore, while the Centre will chip in with Rs 300-crore aid. About Rs 300 crore would be put in by the state government and the remaining amount would have to be managed by the local bodies, Dhariwal said.
The project is expected to quot;begin by the next financial yearquot;, the Minister said. Under the project, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Udaipur and Bikaner would receive a facelift which would involve removal of encroachments and unauthorised buildings, Dhariwal said.
The historical monuments to be conserved and restored have already been identified, he said. quot;Ford Foundation, whom we had contacted, has already identified some 300 historical monuments. All these would be included in the project, quot; he said.
