
VADODARA, July 16: While city life continued to be disrupted due to waterlogging in several low-lying areas, parts of the district received rainfall on Thursday. Though there was only scanty rainfall in the city during the afternoon, the entire district recorded heavy rainfall on Wednesday which continued well till wee hours of Thursday.
The local weather office said that Jetpurpavi recorded 12 mm rainfall, Chhotaudepur, 4 mm, Padra 4 mm, Sankheda 13 mm and Savli 9 mm, the Vadodara rural parts received only about 2 mm of rains. Rest of all the talukas, namely, Karjan, Dabhoi, Naswadi, Waghodia and Sinnor, did not record rainfall.
The total rainfall till date in Karjan was the maximum: 639 mm. Jetpurpavi had 362 mm, Dabhoi 592 mm, Chhotaudepur 286 mm, Naswadi 233 mm, Padra 181 mm, Vadodara 457 mm, Waghodia 337 mm, Savli, 304 mm, Sinnor 424 mm, Sankheda 347 mm and Kwant, 233 mm rainfall.
In the city, while sporadic showers affected traffic movement, life was disrupted in the low-lying areas near the railway station Sayajigunj, Dandia Bazar, Ajwa road, Waghodia road, Pratap Nagar, Kishanwadi and Raopura. Several parts of these areas remain waterlogged for the past several days.
