GULBARGA, MARCH 20: Amercian President Bill Clinton’s week-long much publicised visit to India has a remote connection with the sleepy town of Raichur. One of the 300 strong members of the US media contingent accompanying Clinton originally hails from Raichur, a district headquarter in the north eastern part of Karnataka.
Raichur-born Mohammed Jaffer who runs the mobile media lab in New York is an accredited journalist of the White House. The mobile media lab has got its offices both in New York and New Jersey.
Jaffer’s father M A Rahim was a well-known press photographer whose photographs had extensively appeared in the national media particularly the then popular Illustrated Weekly of India. Rahim had started Snap India Media Service at Hyderabad.
Jaffer, a citizen of America, is the nephew of former Raichur MLA Mohammed Omar of the Congress.
