NEW DELHI: The government is likely to allow non-resident Indians NRIs 14 per cent equity participation in the insurance sector, while permitting 26 per cent investment by foreign institutions, industry minister Sikandar Bakht said on Saturday. 8220;This is the unanimous view of the Group of Ministers GoM that met on Thursday and I am a party to it,8221; he told newspersons after addressing a FICCI meeting.

WASHINGTON: The first public phase of impeachment hearing against US President Bill Clinton will get under way with a sub-committee hearing on November 9. The House Judiciary Committee has set a one-day sub-committee hearing for November 9, committee sources said here on Saturday. Formal hearings are expected on November 15.
9 hurt in blast
MUMBAI: About nine workers were injured, two of them seriously, in a blast at Voltas company in Thane district here on Saturday. The cause behind the blast and subsequent blazewas not known immediately, police said.
4 Naxals killed
HYDERABAD: Four naxalites of the banned Peoples8217; War Group PWG and Janashakthi group were killed in separate encounters with police in the naxal-infested Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh on Friday night. Police said on Saturday two ultras of PWG, Iliah alias Latif and Madireddy, were shot dead by police in a fierce exchange of fire near Jagapur at Chandurthi mandal in the district.
Bus mishap toll
KOTTAYAM: The death toll in Thursday8217;s bus accident near Pala in Kerala8217;s Kottayam district has risen to 18. A woman succumbed to injuries on Friday night and another person died on Saturday afternoon at the Medical College Hospital here, sources said. The incident took place when a private bus turned upside down and caught fire after hitting a telephone post and a compound wall near Pizhaku.
