Chandigarh Police arrest three in Mani Majra theft cases and recover stolen jewellery and household appliances.
The Chandigarh Police has arrested three accused involved in a series of theft cases in the Mani Majra area and recovered stolen jewellery and household appliances from their possession.
The arrests were made following multiple theft and burglary incidents reported in the area over the past several days.
The police constituted special teams, which collected and analysed CCTV footage, conducted raids at suspected hideouts and deployed informers to track down the culprits.
The accused have been identified as Shamsher Singh, 32, a resident of Mari Wala Town, Mani Majra; Shankar Rawat, 30, a resident of Pipli Wala Town, Mani Majra; and Karan, alias Pepsi, 23, a resident of Majri Chowk, Panchkula.
Two FIRs were registered at Mani Majra police station on January 9. In FIR number 4, shopkeeper Abhinav Pal reported the theft of a blower and mixer grinder from outside his shop at Market Hall Complex, Mani Majra. In FIR number 5, complainant Jyoti Sharma, a housewife, reported the theft of jewellery from her residence when she had gone to the rooftop to dry clothes.
The stolen items included one pair of gold earrings, two pairs of silver anklets, one pair of silver bangles, and one silver chain with a locket.
During investigation, the police arrested the three accused on January 9.
The stolen blower, mixer grinder and two oil tins were recovered from Shamsher Singh and Shankar Rawat, while the jewellery stolen from Jyoti Sharma’s house was recovered from Karan, alias Pepsi.
All three accused were produced before the court and remanded in 14 days’ judicial custody on Saturday.
Police officials said that Shamsher Singh and Shankar Rawat have no previous criminal record, while Karan, alias Pepsi, is involved in an earlier case registered in 2025 under the Arms Act at Ambala City police station.
