NEW DELHI: Delhi Assembly on Monday passed a censure motion against Leader of the Opposition Jag Parvesh Chandra for asking Congress member Mukesh Sharma not to leave the House despite the Speaker’s direction for his removal. Speaker Charti LalGoel directed the marshals to remove Sharma from the House after he defied repeated instructions from the chair to maintain discipline and created noisy scenes while insisting for a discussion on price rise during the question hour.

Cauvery meeting

CHENNAI: The first meeting of the Cauvery River Authority’s monitoring committee, to frame rules and regulations for the committee, would be held at New Delhi on October 7. The Centre’s move to convene the meeting follows a request from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said the designation gives law enforcement “enhanced powers to combat a group that has instilled fear through violence and intimidation”.
