SC stays Hiten Dalal conviction
NEW DELHI:
The Supreme Court on Friday suspended the sentence awarded to stock broker Hiten Dalal and former Canara Bank official S Mohan by the Mumbai special court in the infamous 1992 securities scam case. The apex court simultaneously admitted their appeal against their conviction by special court.

FERA case
NEW DELHI:
The Supreme Court on Friday fixed September 23 for hearing on Enforcement Directorate8217;s petition challenging a Bombay High Court order granting bail to media baron Ashok Jain in alleged FERA violation cases. A three-judge Bench comprising Justices M K Mukherjee, S P Kurdukar and K T Thomas would also hear on the same day the Directorate8217;s petition seeking some more time to retain certain documents claimed to have been seized from Jain8217;s house.
