Applications for PG seats in medicine
Applications for filling up of all India surrendered postgraduate seats in medicine have been invited from the eligible candidates on or before December 23, 98, according a note issued by the B J Medical College.

More details can be had from the post graduate students section of the college, the note added.

Krishnamurthy award for Dr Pal
DR Jayant Pal of Department of Biotechnology, University of Pune has been selected for A Krishnamurthy Award of the Society of Biological Chemists, India for the best paper of the year 1998. The award and a citation will be presented to Dr Pal during the annual meeting of the Society scheduled to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, during December 19 to 21.

Sony-ICD award for Mohite
Urmila Mohite of Educational Media Research Centre, University of Pune has bagged the Sony-ICD international award for her video programme 8220;Human rights: Give us back our childhood!8221;at a contest held in Japan recently.

There were 56 entries from 45 video production centres from 22 countries.

The video depicts the life of street children in Mumbai and Pune. The challenging camera work of the film has been done by Ravin Apte.

Junior college teachers8217; morcha
Pune District Junior College Vocational Education Teachers8217; Association will take out a morcha to the regional office of deputy director, vocational education and training to register their support to ongoing indefinite strike by junior college teachers and to press for their various demands.

Their major demands include implementation of the pay-scales recommended by the fifth pay commission, creation of post of vice-principal in all the institutions offering more than three vocational courses and studentship to all taking vocational courses.
