Seven arrested in Panchkula for online betting on Women’s Premier League cricket matches

(File Photo for representation) The Panchkula police in Haryana have said they busted a racket involved in online betting on Women’s Premier League (WPL) cricket matches, arresting seven people from a rented house in Sector 21 on Monday night.
The police said on Wednesday that they also recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash, along with four laptops, 46 mobile phones, two computer monitors, three tablets, and a sound recorder from the house. The arrests and seizures followed a tip-off the police received late on Monday night.

Bets were being placed on an ongoing cricket match between Uttar Pradesh and Bengaluru when a team of detective staff led by in-charge Mandeep Singh raided the spot, according to the police.
