
Painting contest result
Akshay Pankawala of Maharashtra English School and S Manaza of Hutching High School have won the first prizes in the below five years and five to seven years age groups in the painting competition, held by the YMCA Poona at its Quartergate centre on January 26. The other first prize winners are Suraj Dandekar of Symbiosis School (7-9 years), Pratik N Mehta (9-12 years) and Nikhil N Mehta (12-15 years), both of Muktangan English School.
The first prize winners at the competition held at St Ursula High School centre in Nigdi are Sahil Alurkar of St Ursula High School (below five years), Ishan Jijhotiva of Judson High School (5-7 years), Harpreet K Nagi of Judson High School (7-9 years), Akshay S Alurkar of St Ursula High School (9-12 years) and Shamika D Parab of J P N Vidyalaya (12-15 years). The prize distribution ceremony will be held at YMCA, Quartergate on February 14 at 5 p.m.
Scholarship exams
The scholarship examinations for pre-primary (fourth standard) andsecondary (seventh standard) which were slated to be held on May 3 on account of the parliamentary elections will now be conducted in the state on April 5 as per the original schedule.

PhD conferredn JYOTIKA Taneja, a former student of Fergusson College, has been awarded PhD by the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland, for her thesis on Sensory and behavioural responses of rhodnius prolixus and triatoma infestans to vertebrate odours and to volatiles from triatomine faeces.’ She is the daughter of L R Taneja, a retired senior accounts officer.
