PCB warns residents
Taking a serious view of the sudden increase in illegal construction activity, the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) on Monday issued a public notice warning people against entering into any transactions such as lease, deed, or transfer involving five different properties in the cantonment area.

Speaking to The Indian Express, cantonment executive officer J Sharma revealed that the board has identified a portion of Crystal Ball pub (House no 320), House no 320-A, House no 321 located on M G Road besides 619 Taboot Street and East Street Galleria ( 2421 Gen Thimayya Road) as buildings which had gone ahead with unauthorised constructions in the said properties, inspite of court orders and notices issued under the Cantonments Act, 1924.

According to him while 619 Taboot Street had exceeded its FSI limits, there was no sanctioned plan in the case of 320 M G Road and 2421 Gen Thimayya Road. “These properties have been identified because of the major extent of construction taking place there,” he said, adding that the cantonment board would shortly identify the other illegal constructions in the area in a phased manner.

The public notice issued on Monday mentioned that the since the owners or builders of the concerned properties were going ahead with unauthorised construction despite court orders, any person or firm entering into a transaction with these property owners would be doing so at their own risk and that the board would not be responsible for any consequences which may arise in case of demolition of the unauthorised constructions.

DCB notice to staffers
The Dehu Road Cantonment Board (DCB) has slapped notices on 450-odd employees asking them to furnish details of the moveable and immovable property within a period of 15 days of the receipt of the notice failing which the board threatened to initiate necessary action against the offenders.

As per the new conduct rules laid by the Central Government, every employee of the cantonment board is required to submit details of his or her moveable and immovable property assets by the end of March. However, no efforts have been initiated in the past few years to gather the necessary information from the employees. A similar notice had been issued by the then cantonment executive officer Geeta Kashyap around eight years back asking for details from the employees.
