Pokale and Sonavane were riding toward Gujarwadi from Katraj side when the container which was heading in the opposite direction dashed against their Kawasaki Bajaj motorbike near Gujarwadi Phata.

Pokale and Sonavane, who were flung high in the air, died instantaneously as they came under the front wheels of the container, police said. Container driver Shrirang Shivaji Mane 40 from Sangli was later arrested by Sahakarnagar police.

Dadam Tukaram Khilare 45 from Purandar was killed on the spot and three persons were seriously injured in a freak mishap involving a State Transport bus, a M 80 moped and a scooter on Pune-Solapur Road.

According to the police, Dadam and Misal were riding toward Pune when a State Transport bus which was heading in the same direction rammed into their M 80 moped.

The moped then hit the scooter injuring the man and the woman, the police added.
